Spiritual Warfare Part I

One of the most common questions I hear about spiritual warfare is “can Christians be possessed?”

To answer that question, I think we first have to define “possessed.” When scripture talks about the “demon possessed” it uses two Greek words “daimoni” and “zomai.”

daimon: demon

zomai: possessed, or under the influence of

so the answer is YES. A Christian CAN be under the influence of a demon!

“We are OWNED BY GOD, but we CAN be under the influence of a demon.”

~Pastor Robert Morris

To get a better grasp on exactly what the Bible says about Christians being in bondage, allow me show you the Free Indeed series by Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church.

These are HANDS DOWN the BEST spiritual warfare sermons, I’ve EVER seen! And btw…

Spiritual Warfare Sermons:

The first time I personally came to REALLY know that demons are real, was after a long journey of seeking out the truth about the spiritual realm, in a variety of occult practices.

You see, from the time that I was a young child I knew that I could FEEL a supernatural presence, and I had ONCE even heard an audible voice tell me to do something specific, that had saved my life. But then some Christians that I looked to for guidance, told me with absolute confidence that “God didn’t work that way.” They told me that He didn’t really speak to people, and that the spiritual gifts (like healing/prophesy/miracles) had ceased to be active on the earth, in these modern times.

David, a Man After My Own Heart

excerpt from “The Spirit Filled Believer’s Daily Devotional

“This is one of those verses which reads the same in the Old Testament (1 Sam. 13:14) as in the New Testament. When the Lord states that David is a man after His own heart, what He is saying is: ‘David is My kind of man! I can count on him to do all My will without any reluctance or hesitation.’

Twice in the Psalms, David discusses his willingness to do the Lord’s will. In Psalm 40:8 he declares: ‘I delight to do Your will, O my God. And Your law is within my heart.’ (NKJ) Then in Psalm 143:10 he requests the Lord’s help in this area: ‘Teach me to do Your will.’ (NKJ) This desire to do the Lord’s will was PLEASING to God.

David had another characteristic that qualified him to be a man after God’s own heart. It was a QUICKNESS to ACKNOWLEDGE WRONGDOING when he was confronted with it. David was QUICK to REPENT. He did not hide his sins. He did not carry grudges, hatred, unforgiveness, or resentment in his heart.

He always hurried to the place of FORGIVENESS and RECONCILIATION. How many hours, days, weeks, months, and years have we wasted by not coming to grips with unconfessed sin? David was SO SENSITIVE about DISPLEASING the Lord that he was quick to make amends and be restored to loving fellowship. He did not lose any time clearing away the debris in his life. It was THIS quality that caused him to be a man after God’s own heart.”

~Dick Mills

Sometimes I struggle with feelings of inadequacy. Feeling like I’m falling SO SHORT of the Glory of God, that the Lord MUST not want to hear from me. That THIS time I’ve messed up too bad, and am an utter failure. A disappointment to my Father in Heaven.

The Spiritual Roots Of OBESITY

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

~John 8:36

I’ve had struggles with food for most of my life, but had never considered what the spiritual components to weight gain, and eating disorders like Anorexia and Bulimia were.

Then half way through an online weight loss challenge that I’m doing on AskingMom.Org (one of my other websites,) I came upon a ministry that deals with the spiritual roots of obesity.

WOW, what a concept!

I’ve been working in “Freedom Ministry” aka “Sozo” for many years but had never thought of DELIVERANCE FROM FOOD ADDICTION until I met Doug Cromer.

Spiritual Blindness

I have become accustom to living in the Lord’s presence, and hearing from Him through out each and every day, however there are times when He goes silent.

At first I find it odd, then after a day or so I try to rationalize that maybe He has nothing to say, but eventually I have to face the fact that there must be something that I’m doing or not doing that is causing an interference; a breakdown in our communication.

Scripture tells us that HEARING IS EASY, right?!? Then why are there times when I can’t hear Him?

steven-coffey-595401-unsplash

For me many times it is because I’ve gotten into pride. I’ve been judging someone else, scorning them for something I think that they should be doing or not doing, and looking down on them with haughty eyes.

The reality is that SUPERIORITY and INFERIORITY are both fear based, and to be able to hear the Spirit, it is required of us to come with a clean heart. A heart full of love and gratitude, not fear.

I can’t stand in judgement and scorn other people, and then expect to have an intimate relationship with their FATHER.

It’s a humbling experience to be convicted of PRIDE. But I’m so grateful that the Lord corrects those who fear Him, and that His mercies are new every morning.

It’s a blessing to be able to hear the voice of God, and to be an instrument of His will.

Those times when He has spoken through me and it’s changed the course of someone’s life have been deep, profound, exhilarating experiences that I don’t take lightly.

I always WANTknowledge to be easy;” I always want to “understand.”

But for that to happen, I have to keep in mind that it is ONLY God who searches the hearts and minds of men, and to keep my hands out of it. (Jer. 17:9-10)

excerpt from “The Spirit Filled Believer’s” Daily Devotional

The Lord is omniscient; He knows all things. In His Word He has promised to make available to His children all the treasures of His wisdom and knowledge. Our tendency is to complicate matters and make it difficult to obtain Divine knowledge. This verse assures us that knowledge is easy for the person who understands the ways of God.

One time I was walking through a public place of business headed for a conference room where I was to take part in a seminar. Suddenly I noticed a man sitting all alone. Instantly the Lord put it in on my heart to witness to the man about the love of God. I have a natural reluctance to go up to people I don’t know and start talking. I did have a burden for the man and knew that the Lord was putting him on my heart. My spirit was saying to me, ‘Share God’s love with him.’ but my flesh was saying, ‘But you don’t even know this man!’

Inwardly I was praying for help. In answer to my prayer, the Lord imparted the knowledge about the man that I needed in order to approach him. Knowledge is factual. The Lord gave me the complete facts about the man’s situation, his occupation, his relationship with his wife and children, and his attitude toward God. The man was so overwhelmed with my knowledge and concern that he broke into tears and surrendered his life to the Lord then and there.

The knowledge you need to be an effective witness is available. It is easy to come by. Jesus said that His yoke is easy. (Matt. 11:30) Teamed with Him in service, His knowledge easily becomes your knowledge.

Does God Give Us MORE Than We Can Handle? YES

excerpt from “The Spirit Filled Believer’s” Daily Devotional

February 6

“The people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

~Daniel 11:32

“This verse covers life during times of great stress, pressure, and turmoil. It is not speaking of a time of unparalleled peace, prosperity, and plenty. It is a promise that shows us how to survive in a climate of international tension, economic upheaval, and spiritual change. This word from the Lord tells us that persecution of the Christians will result in greater knowledge (‘they shall know their God’), greater strength (‘they shall be strong’), and greater miracles (‘they shall carry out great exploits’). The more difficult the days, the greater God’s power will be demonstrated. You and I should be encouraged knowing that the Lord is fortifying us for the future. We are not only going to survive, we have been promised that miracles will accompany our Christian witness.

In times of great opposition to the Church of the living God, the world becomes a combat zone between God and satan. Where sin abounds, grace abounds even more. (Rom. 5:20) The greater the darkness, the greater the light. Right in the midst of the devil’s revival of occultism and mystic religions, the Holy Ghost is being poured out in copious measure.

The Church of Jesus Christ is not getting weaker and weaker as the end of time approaches; it is getting stronger and stronger. We believers are going out in a blaze of glory. We will know the Lord intimately, have a prevailing strength, and do notable feats and miracles in His name! Our future prospect is victory all the way!

~Dick Mills

Throughout my life, when things began to look hopeless, I would question the Lord…”Are You angry with me? Am I being punished? Did you ever love me? Why is this happening? When are You going to show up and fix this?”

StockSnap_FETAZNQOG6

But after going through a whole array of emotions and strategies, I would land on my knees, submitting everything to Him.

All cried out I’d say, “I don’t understand…but I love You Daddy… What ever Your will is, ok…that’s my will too. Just show me what You want me to do, and I’ll do it.”

You see it was only then, that things would begin to make sense.

His peace and comfort would envelop me, and once nothing else mattered except my relationship with Him, I would see the miracle start happen.

Does God give us more than we can handle? YES, because He loves us, and it is only THEN that we are putty in His hands…no resistance, no rebellion, no demands, no ultimatums, no manipulations, no tantrums…at that point we are just humble and submissive…at that point we are teachable.

Looking back across the last 20 years, I can honestly say I am grateful for every hardship, every betrayal, every devastating blow that blindsided me, because once life knocked me to my knees, it is there I prayed.

I’m so grateful for every single time that I was left with a hopeless situation, where there were no solutions in the natural, because it was then that I got a front row seat to witness a miracle. And with each and every crazy miracle that I’ve seen, the Lord has built my faith into a strong-tower. He’s gradually grown my dependence upon Him, until now I’m ABLE to follow Him with a child like faith.

~ 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 “We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.  Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.  He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.”

God never said it was going to be easy, He just said it would be worth it. We were born into a war…a war that has been heating up here, in these very LAST of the Last Days.

It’s a chess game if you will, and we have been chosen to battle for the Kingdom of God.

drawn thee

Let me ask you this, what is it to be DRAWN?

Well, let’s look at the definition…

draw:

1. to produce (a picture, work of art, or diagram) by making lines and marks, especially with a pen or pencil, on a paper.

  “He drew a map.”

2. pull or drag something (such as a vehicle) so as to cause it to follow behind.

3. the act of selecting names, typically by extracting them from a group of names to match competitors in a game or tournament.

In His perfect foreknowledge He chose you, before the world began…

now He’s making you into a warrior, for His purposes…a work of art.

It may be painful, but He’s fashioning you into a champion.

ancient-antique-armor-339805

It’s not suppose to be easy, or comfortable…just ask any Olympic Athlete who’s won the gold.

I want to thank you for stopping by today. My heart goes out to each and every person who is struggling, and so I’ve included a prayer just for you, here at the bottom…

PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I lift Your children up to You right now, I ask that You would scatter every demonic strategy that comes against them in the name of Jesus Christ. I ask Father that You would close every door that has been opened to the demonic, knowingly or unknowingly, and seal it closed with the blood of Jesus. Father I ask that You would deploy Your warrior angels from the windows of Heaven, to encamp around all those who’s hearts truly belong to You, and protect them from any efforts of our enemy satan, or his emissaries. Father I break any curses or spells that have been spoken against Your children in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is written…”Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8) And I ask You Lord to fill each one of them with Your Holy Spirit, for “where Your light shines, no darkness can overcome it.” (1 John 1:5)

I thank You for doing this, as I pray all these things in the name of Jesus, Amen.

belief-bible-book-267559

BTW, every thing we lift up to the Lord, is made far more effective when we have FIRST forgiven every person who has ever done anything to harm us, or our loved ones…and when we then ask the Lord to forgive us for all of our sins.

I know it may seem fake to say that we forgive someone, when in hearts we don’t feel the forgiveness is genuine. However when we do so in obedience to the Lord, and then ask that it will take root in our spirit, God blesses our obedience, and it brings our prayers to a supernatural level of effectiveness.

PRAYER FOR FORGIVENESS:

Dear Father God, I thank You for all the many ways You choose to bless me. Thank You for Your mercy, grace and abundant love. I confess that there is anger and resentment in my heart, and I ask You to deliver me from it. As a matter of my will, I forgive every person who has ever hurt me, harmed me, or spoken against me, and I ask that You would cause that forgiveness to take root in my spirit. As I do this and forgive all those who have sinned against me, I ask that You forgive every sin I’ve committed, knowingly or unknowingly. Please wash me clean in the blood of Christ and put my sin as far as the east is from the west. I thank You for doing this, as I will no longer allow the enemy to harass me with the past, because I choose to forgive myself, and receive the full blessings of Your forgiveness. I ask You to teach me to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, as You have instructed me to do. (2 Cor. 10:5)

I pray all these things, in the mighty name of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ, Amen.

Is Satan Attacking You?!?

Can Christian’s be under attack from satan?

Yes, I have seen many Christian’s come under serious attack.

In fact, when you come under demonic attack take comfort, because it means that you must be doing something right. And that something is an obvious threat to satan’s kingdom, if it weren’t….he wouldn’t bother with you.

In Luke 22:31, 32 Jesus said, “Simon, listen to me! Satan has demanded the right to test each one of you, as a farmer does when he separates wheat from the husks. But I HAVE PRAYED FOR YOU, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you turn back to me, you MUST strengthen your brothers.”

So why would we think that if the apostle’s, who walked with Jesus, and gave up everything to follow Him, would come under attack, (so much so that Jesus Himself warned them, and prayed for them,) but that we, modern day Christians couldn’t or wouldn’t?

cemetery-3210234

In the New Testament, Jesus actually spoke more about satan, demonic attack and hell, than He did about Heaven.

Now the question is, what should we do about it?

For one thing, I believe we all have to make the decision to be ALL IN for the Kingdom of God, because we simply can’t peacefully live a blessed life, with one foot in, and one foot out.

Can we go to Heaven, and still be watching rated R movies? Yes, I think we can.

vianney

Can we still go to Heaven while listening to worldly music, and reading our astrology on the internet? Yes, I believe we can.

Can we still go Heaven while having premarital sex and/or drinking, while not paying tithes/offerings or being in service? Yes, I believe if our hearts truly belong to Jesus…we can. And by the way, I am the LAST PERSON that would cast a stone of judgement.

However all these worldly things can serve as open doors to the enemy, giving him permission to attack us, and making our suffering in this world far more intense.

backlit-black-and-white-dark-792032

In contrast…the blessings that come from following the law, (like being a faithful tither) can offer a lot of protection against those attacks.

Take a look at this scripture about tithes, blessings, and protection…

~Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. TEST ME ON THIS,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out SO MUCH blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

AND…

“I’ll prevent the devourer from harming you, so that HE does not destroy the crops of your land, NOR will I allow the vine to lose its fruit before harvest,” says the LORD who rules over all. ~Malachi 3:11

I love that promise, and I can give my personal testimony that it is true, however this is just ONE of the benefits of obedience, (the blessings of Abraham) and just one of the ways that we can receive protection from our enemy satan.

forest-hd-wallpaper-landscape-35600

One more thing I’d like to add is that although I understand that in this age of social media, most of us have been guilty of presenting a version of ourselves that is far from an accurate assessment, of how things REALLY are…

I believe that IN doing so, it leaves us, the Body of Christ, at a disadvantage…and each individual one of us, feeling very alone.

Eventually, when the storms come, as they inevitably will, we often feel too embarrassed to confess it.

Looking through the perfect profile pages of all of our friends and family, we choose to hide, and suffer silently.

I believe a little transparency about our weaknesses is an act of love, and is what is needed to not only overcome our struggles, but to strengthen one another, through the heat of the battle.

I think it’s time to drop the facade, and come clean about the challenges we are walking through; YES, even the ones that shake the very foundation of our faith.

“Your LOVE for one another, gives proof to the world, that you belong to Me.”

~John 13:35

Prayer to SPIRITUALLY PROTECT/CLEANSE/BLESS your home/life/family:

Father, I thank You that You have never rejected me and You never will. Even if other people reject me, You have received me unconditionally, and I am accepted in Jesus Christ. I thank you that my acceptance doesn’t depend upon anything but Jesus, and the finished work of the cross. I am not ashamed before You, as I am completely forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Thank You that You have distanced my transgressions, as far from me, as the east is from the west.

I will not allow the enemy to harass me about the past anymore. I repent of my sins, and choose to forgive myself and receive the full freedom of Your forgiveness.

I thank You that my body can function in Your peace. Healed and made whole, my mind is at rest, as I choose to forget past failures and struggles. Lord, I embrace Your love, Your thoughts, and Your ways.

Father God, I confess that there is anger and resentment in my heart, and ask that You to deliver me from it.

Because of Jesus’ forgiveness, I can forgive others in His name.

As a matter of will, I forgive every person who has ever harmed me, rejected me, hurt me, betrayed me, or spoken against me, and I ask that this forgiveness takes root in my spirit. I free them now in my thoughts, and I no longer hold their sins against them. I ask You Lord to bless them in Your mercy.

I rebuke any efforts of satan in any area of my life, and I renounce any spells or curses that have been cast over me, my home, my health, or my family, even word curses that I’ve spoken over myself. For it is written, “Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.” In the name of Jesus I cancel the effects that these curses have had on my health, my finances, or my mind, will and emotions.

I take back the ground the enemy has gained in any area of my life, and I recommit that ground to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Lord I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and I thank You that I am a brand new creation. All the old has passed away, and I stand clean in Your sight.

I receive Your healing grace, by the cleansing power of the Holy Spirit within me.

I’m thankful that You control me, not my emotions, satan, his emissaries, or what other people say.

I thank you for this place to live, and I cleanse this home for myself/my family as a place of spiritual refuge from all attacks of the enemy.

As a child of God seated with Jesus Christ in the heavenly realm, I renounce any allegiance given to false gods or spirits by past residents, current residents, visitors, or myself and command every evil spirit claiming ground in the structures and furnishings of this place, based on any actives done in the past, to leave and never return. Your assignment has been cancelled, and you are not welcome here.

Lord I ask You to close any doors that have been opened to the enemy, right now in the name of Jesus Christ.

Father, I thank you for doing this, as I ask You to fill me and this home with Your Holy Spirit, for where Your light resides, no dark thing may enter.

I ask You Heavenly Father to post guardian angels around this home, to guard it from the attempts of the enemy to enter and disturb Your purposes for me/us.

I praise Your name Father God, giving you all honor and glory, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

REPEAT THIS PART, IN EVERY ROOM; AS YOU ANOINT EACH DOOR/WINDOW WITH OIL.

I cleanse this home for myself/my family as a place of spiritual refuge from all attacks of the enemy. Your assignment has been cancelled. I renounce any spells or curses that have been cast, even word curses that I’ve spoken myself. For it is written, “Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.” Lord I ask You to close any doors that have been opened to the enemy, right now in the name of Jesus Christ.

Father, I thank you for doing this, as I ask You to fill me and this home with Your Holy Spirit, for where Your light resides, no dark thing may enter.

I thank You Father God, that Your angels have charge over me/us, and pray all this in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
