Hearing God

Feb 18

~Isaiah 11:3

“And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears.”

On Thursday of last week I lost my job. I can’t say that it didn’t hurt my feelings because it did. However it didn’t blindside me, because the Lord had been telling me it was going to happen for weeks.

When I read this scripture “and he shall NOT judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears” I feel so deeply grateful for my relationship with God. In the natural everything looked fine with my job, even perfect…but the Lord kept revealing to me over and over, that things were not as they seemed. Therefore I was prepared, for what could have been devastating.

God is the source

Another example of when my relationship with God prevented me from being blindsided, was when He kept telling me that a close friend of mine was speaking curses, gossip and slander over me, and about me. The Lord kept telling me to close the door on my friendship with her, because that season had come to an end. But I loved my friend, and simply couldn’t believe it…I didn’t want to let her go.

She had become my confidant, and someone I shared all my hopes and dreams with. I thought we would always be best friends forever.

Then one day after she and I had finished speaking on the phone, an audio message came in through the text from her, so I played it. The smile on my face quickly fell when I realized that she didn’t know she had been recording herself, and must have sent it by mistake…

The things she was saying about me were not only not true but uncharacteristically cruel. It left me shocked and disillusioned about what we had meant to each other. Although clearly our season together was over, I’m grateful for His gentle Spirit preparing me, so I thanked Him.

Scripture tells us that this way of life, this type of close fellowship with the Lord is possible for every believer. It’s not about who we are, but who He is.

Take a look at ~Jeremiah 33:3…

jeremaih 333

In some versions like the NLT it says, “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”

and in essence it means that the Lord will show us things that are happening now, beginning to unfold, and are coming in the future.

The term unsearchable things comes from the Hebrew word batsar:

batsar: to cut off, make inaccessible, enclose

Original Word: בָּצַר
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: batsar
Phonetic Spelling: (baw-tsar’)
Definition: to cut off, make inaccessible, enclose

it means hidden, or covered up…

Wow, as the scripture tells us “the rain will fall on the just, and the unjust alike” but it doesn’t have to leave the spirit filled believer devastated. We can walk through all the challenges that come with living in a fallen world, without one single thing or person catching us off guard or unprepared.

The Wisdom To Proceed

excerpt from “The Spirit Filled Believer’s” Daily Devotional

February 4

“Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times.”

~Isaiah 33:6 NKJ

“Wisdom and knowledge go together like a husband and wife. They complete each other.

Knowledge is facts; it is informational. Wisdom is understanding; it is directive, procedural. Knowledge provides data needed to be informed and aware. Wisdom provides the insight necessary to know how to proceed on facts at hand. For example, Noah had the facts about the coming worldwide flood 120 years before it arrived on the scene. But he really didn’t know what to do about that flood until a word of wisdom came to him saying, “Build an ark.”

You and I can be intuitively and sensitively cognizant of coming events in our own life. But knowledge alone is not enough. We need to wait for wisdom to show us how to proceed. James tells us if anyone lacks wisdom, it is available for the asking.

Lot and Abraham both knew that Sodom was going to end up at the bottom of the Dead Sea. Abraham knew it a week before it happened, and Lot knew it a day ahead of time. To those who are truly in tune with the Lord, knowledge always comes first because God is omniscient; He knows all things. Proverbs 14:6 says that knowledge is easy to the person who understands. (NKJ) There is not anything the Lord doesn’t know. He even invites His children to be curious enough about their future to ask Him about it. (Jer. 33:3) Once we have done that, once we have the facts, then we are to inquire and ask for wisdom and direction. With both wisdom and knowledge, we are standing on solid ground.”

Over the years I have learned how to receive guidance from the Lord, and it’s been a priceless gift that has literally saved my life. Sometimes I hear a still small voice, a voice of spirit. Sometimes I get images that flash across my mind. Sometimes I have dreams or visions, and sometimes it’s just a “knowing” that I can’t quite explain. Dick Mills calls it being “cognizant of coming events.”

The priest.

I’d like to share with you what an amazing thing it is to live in this type of closeness with the Lord. It changes everything. I believe it’s the way we’re intended to live, following His lead with a child like faith, casting every burden upon Him.

Life can be a bumpy road to travel. Wouldn’t it be awesome to walk through the challenges we face, with confidence that every decision is the right one, because you first sought the only guidance that matters, from the One who declared the end from the beginning?

I believe that’s how the spirit filled Christian is suppose to live, in close relationship with God, constantly receiving revelation from God, following His guidance with a child-like faith, while casting all our burden’s on Him. Not allowing anything or anyone to steal our peace, or our joy.

If you don’t already have this type of relationship with your Father in Heaven, I’d like to invite you to take the first steps in getting there…

Do you find yourself asking how to receive revelation from God?

Prayer:

God, I come to you in the name of Jesus and thank you that you have been reaching out to me. Thank you that You speak, and that You want a close intimate relationship personal relationship with me.

I surrender my life into Your capable hands, and thank You that in my search for meaning of life, You have lead me to You, my CREATOR. I ask that You forgive me of every sin I’ve committed knowingly or unknowingly, as I forgive those who have sinned against me.

I ask You to remove from my life anything that leads to a disconnection from You, because my desire is to know You more fully, and to be known by You in a deep and profound way.

I ask for Your Holy Spirit to come into my life and restore a full connection of my heart to Your heart. I thank You that Jesus died, so that I might be fully alive in You, and I ask that You breathe life into my core, re-align my thinking with Your thinking, re-envision me and restore me to a child-like joy, and inner peace.

I thank You God for doing this, for new joy, new healing, new peace, supernatural knowledge and wisdom, and a fresh new relationship with You that will increase in depth and intimacy with each passing day. Thank You for a future filled with Divine purpose, as You come into my life and redesign it according to Your beauty, brilliance, and goodness.

Show me God how much You love me. Show me how You see me. Reveal to me the things to come, and what Your will is for my life.

Thank You for chasing me down until I heard You loud and clear, and that You have an incredible plan for my life.

Teach me how to take every thought captive in obedience to Christ.

Close every door that I’ve opened to the demonic knowingly or unknowingly, and open doors for me that no man can shut.

I love You Father God. I praise You, and pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
