How WILLING Are You, To Change?

excerpt from “The Spirit Filled Believer’s” Daily Devotional

February 7

~Psalm 55:19 “Because they do not change, Therefore they do not fear God.”

“How resistant to change are you? How much pain does a new idea cause you? How willing are you to discard a method that no longer works, a tradition that has lost it’s meaning, a methodology that has become ineffective? Would you agree with the statement that sameness begets tameness, and tameness begets lameness?

Changes do not come easily to any of us. Especially to those in the church world. But change we must, because of the condition of the lost and needy world. The unsaved world is rushing downhill to eternity. It is going to take something drastic to catch their attention and stem the tide of this self-destructing society in which we live. To refuse to adapt to changing circumstances is to ignore the cries for help of a lost society. Being locked into our traditional ways of doing things could keep us from a readiness to respond to the calls for help that our lost world keeps sending forth.

The verse for today says that if you and I will not change, it is because tradition means more to us that the reverential fear of the Lord. You and I have a lot of reasons for not changing, but our God wants us to trust Him completely for the future and allow Him to make any necessary adjustments. Such trust qualifies us for the capacity of reverentially fearing the Lord.”

Psalm5519

My favorite time of year is autumn. As I cast my gaze out onto the changing trees, the vibrant yellows, oranges and reds tickle my eyes, and ignite a rush of butterflies through my body. Breathing in the familiar smell of fall, I’m overcome by the exhilaration in the air. I become deeply aware that something has shifted, and amidst this transformation anything is possible.

Christian’s are not perfect people, quite the opposite really. However when you have truly given your life to Jesus, you are given in return a brand new heart, and over time a transformation takes place. One that the those around us, can’t help but take notice of.

INCORPORATE

When we go out into the world as ambassadors, after we have surrendered to this renovation, we light up as vibrantly as autumn trees on a hillside. Although people may not understand right away what it is about us that is different, upon investigation they come to realize that we are works of art, and it’s not us that they are being drawn to, but the Artist, as His glory shines through.

“Imagine yourself as a living house. “God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you know that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of—throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”
